Grand Tours of Scotland's Lochs (2017)
S3E3 A Less Travelled Road
Episode Overview
Paul embarks on an adventure tracing the path of Bonnie Prince Charlie as he explores the hidden lochs along Scotland's west coast. He arrives at Glenuig and ventures inland to Loch Moidart, traversing the old coffin road, historically used by funeral processions to transport the deceased to a sacred isle. Along the way, he encounters a trials bike enthusiast who teaches him about a unique 'dabbing coat.' After ringing a 1,100-year-old bell for the dead on the Green Isle, Paul sails north on Loch Shiel to Glenfinnan, the site where Bonnie Prince Charlie initiated his quest for the Stuart throne. Following a visit to a forgotten monument marking this event, he returns to the coast and Loch Ailort, where he learns knife fighting before heading to a deserted community on the remote Ardnish peninsula.
