At 18, Anne Shirley chooses to stay at Green Gables and takes on a teaching role at Avonlea School, temporarily setting aside her dream of becoming a writer to support the aging Marilla. Serving as maid of honor at her best friend Diana's wedding, Anne turns down a marriage proposal from Gilbert. Later, she accepts a teaching position at the prestigious Kingsport Ladies' College, facing various challenges that lead her to reflect on her true happiness. Ultimately, Anne realizes her heart lies at home and resolves to win Gilbert back.
