Episode Overview

Aaron and Jack work together to perform surgery on a man who suffered multiple fractures in a parachuting accident. Meanwhile, Diane returns to the team as a teaching attending in internal medicine, immediately facing a difficult and manipulative patient who disrupts the staff. Kate's sorrow over her father's passing deepens when she is carjacked after his funeral, losing his ashes in the process. Diane looks for support from Dennis and Philip but finds none. After receiving some hard truths from Tommy about her own choices, Kate resolves to confront her actions, starting with Peggy Harrod regarding her daughter's death. Jack faces the fallout of delivering tough news to the parachutist's fiancée. Later, Kate discovers the carjacker has returned her father's ashes while robbing her home. Philip confronts Aaron, emphasizing his determination to prevent Tommy from shutting down the hospital.
