The Kamogawa Boxing Gym welcomes a fresh face: Itagaki Manabu, the national runner-up from the inter-high, who looks up to Ippo as his inspiration. At the same time, Ippo faces an unexpected challenge from Hammer Nao, his former junior. Hammer has returned with the determination to beat Ippo and claim his championship belt.
