A woman approaches Bat, seeking his assistance in fleeing from the notorious Doolin gang, with whom Bat has crossed paths previously. She hopes to return to St. Louis with her young son to reunite with her family. However, her son is hesitant, feeling a bond with the gang and wanting to stay with them, as they are all he has ever known.
