Episode Overview

Jethro receives a letter from the President inviting him to join the Army, but Jed is determined to cover all his training costs himself rather than let the government foot the bill. Mr. Drysdale is furious when Jed decides to withdraw $100,000 to purchase a tank for Jethro. His frustration only grows when Jethro insists that Drysdale join him as a tank crew member, dressed as a German officer. Jethro takes the tank to Griffith Park for some target practice, prompting Mr. Drysdale to flee in a rowboat to the lake's center. Just as Jethro aims to fire at him, two police officers show up, and Mr. Drysdale thinks he's safe—until one of the cops recognizes him from his past and arrests him for old grievances. Jed ends up having to bail out Mr. Drysdale.
