In 1974, Archie Jones feels like one of life’s biggest failures. Even his suicide attempt is interrupted by a passing butcher. The arrival of his old war buddy, Samad Iqbal, stirs up memories of a secret Archie has long wished to escape. As Samad prepares to marry a spirited woman half his age, Archie's sense of loneliness deepens. Believing he’s made a wrong turn in life, he doesn’t anticipate a thrilling change of pace.
