Episode Overview

In 1878 San Francisco, Ah Sahm, a skilled Chinese immigrant, is brought into the perilous world of Chinatown's fiercest tong, the Hop Wei, by a fixer named Chao. His fighting prowess captures the attention of Young Jun, the son of the tong's leader, Father Jun. Following this encounter, Ah Sahm is marked as one of their own and taken to a brothel, where he strikes up a friendship with Ah Toy, a courtesan who has valuable connections in the city.
