Stuck with writer’s block on her debut film, Bouchra—a queer Moroccan jackal in New York City—begins a series of hard but long-overdue phone conversations with her mother in Casablanca, and these calls start shaping the project. Juggling the instability of an artist’s life, a fractured cultural identity, and a string of romantic entanglements, Bouchra’s emotional reckoning turns into her way of finding expression.
