Plot
A mysterious atmospheric split unleashes a series of unpredictable, devastating tornadoes. Rookie firefighter Brian Flynn becomes trapped in the sewers with his girlfriend, Deputy Mayor Jim Lawrence, and Lori, the niece of climatologist Dr. Cassie Lawrence. New York’s Mayor Leonardo downplays the crisis, seeing it as a reelection threat, keeping alert levels dangerously low. Unusual lightning inside the tornadoes adds new perils. The Lawrences and renegade aeronautics expert Dr. Lars Liggenhorn propose launching rockets as a solution, but NASA’s Dr. Quinn overrules them, insisting on standard silver iodide.
