The Bogus Policeman (1967)
Plot
Toramatsu, a policeman with an unwavering belief in helping others, loses his service pistol while performing a good deed—saving a child from drowning. The stolen weapon is later used in a murder, and he's dismissed from the force. When he intervenes to protect a young woman named Mieko from thugs, his former colleagues, deeming him reckless, threaten legal action. After a kindergarten student is kidnapped, Toramatsu poses as an officer to rescue the boy, exposing a political scandal in the process. Though he earns Mieko's admiration, he now faces prison for impersonating the very role he embodies.
