With 4.5 million Instagram followers, journalist and activist Masih Alinejad has ignited a movement, urging Iranian women to defy the mandatory hijab. What began as a social media call to action has snowballed into one of the largest acts of civil disobedience in modern Iran, prompting the regime to tighten its grip in a desperate effort to reassert control over its people.
