Plot

Xiaohui, a clever nine-year-old, grows up in a remote mountain village, far from his parents, under the care of his grandfather. When the family decides to sell a young calf, Xiaohui refuses to accept the heartbreak of separating the cow from her calf. With wit and determination, he devises every possible scheme to keep them together, turning a simple farm transaction into a poignant stand against the cold logic of commerce. His fight becomes a tender, soul-stirring plea for love and connection in a world driven by profit.
