Anand Bhatt—pronounced ONN-INN BOTT—is a Chicago-born artist who has carved a distinctive path in music and entertainment. Raised in the Windy City as the younger of two children, with an engineer father and a schoolteacher mother, his creative spark ignited early. While still in high school, Bhatt and his friends recorded a playful song and choreographed a comedic "monkey dance," complete with homemade costumes. The whimsical routine became a local sensation, eventually earning airplay on Chicago radio stations.
Bhatt went on to earn both his undergraduate and graduate degrees from the University of Illinois at Chicago, where he would also meet his future bandmates in the heavy rock group Anand Clique. As a teenager and through grad school, he supported himself as a "Dancing DJ," performing at weddings, bar mitzvahs, and corporate events with a well-known Chicago troupe that specialized in high-energy shows, impersonations, and audience engagement.
His big break came when he befriended Jim Martin—actor from *Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey* and lead guitarist for the platinum-selling '90s band Faith No More—backstage at a festival. Their collaborations helped land Bhatt his first spot on the Grammy Awards ballot. He also made history as the first Indian-American voting member of the Latin Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences.
