Pietra Montecorvino's artistic journey began on the silver screen in 1983, when she appeared in Renzo Arbore's film *FF.SS.* and captivated audiences with her rendition of "Sud," a performance that immediately showcased her remarkable vocal gifts. Her recording career took flight in 1988 with her debut single, "Una città che vola/Tutta pe' mme," followed by a memorable collaboration with Angelo Branduardi, lending her voice to tracks on his album *Pane e rose* and its French counterpart, *Du pain et des roses*.
Her first solo album, *Segnorita*, arrived in 1991, crafted by the Bennato brothers—Eugenio, her husband, and Edoardo. The project earned her the prestigious Targa Tenco for Best Interpreter of the Year. The following year, she graced the Sanremo stage alongside Peppino Di Capri with "Favola Blues," and in 1993 released her sophomore effort, *Voce di pietra*, all while maintaining an active presence in theatre and cinema.
The new millennium brought a wave of releases: the retrospective *Del mio meglio* and the album *La stella del cammino* in 2000, followed by *Napoli mediterranea* in 2004. In 2005, she contributed to *Seguendo Virgilio*, a tribute to the legendary Quartetto Cetra's Virgilio Savona. Her collaborations continued with Grazia Di Michele in 2006 and a Sanremo duet with Eugenio Bennato performing "Grande Sud" in 2008.
