Ekrem Bora, originally named Ekrem Şerif Uçak, was a celebrated Turkish cinema actor born on March 7, 1934. After completing his education, he earned a diploma in typesetting and binding from the Sultanahmet State Printinghouse. His acting career took off in 1953 when he won the "Sinema Artist" competition organized by Sezai Solelli's Yıldız magazine. Bora debuted on screen in 1955 with Alın Yazısı. Following a two-year hiatus from acting, he made a triumphant return as the lead in Mavi Boncuk, eventually starring in close to 150 films. His talent earned him the Golden Orange Best Actor award twice—first in 1966 for Sürtük and again in 1991 for Soğuktu Ve Yağmur Çiseliyordu. Ekrem Bora passed away on April 1, 2012, in an Istanbul hospital at the age of 78 due to pulmonary edema, and was buried at Zincirlikuyu Cemetery on April 3, 2012.
